North Face of Aiguille du Plan (3673m) and then SSW Couloir of Aiguille de Blaitière (3522m), France

On 16 of May 2019, Phillipe Batoux, Michel Fauquet and Frédéric Gentet skied the North face of Aiguille du Plan (3673m,🇫🇷) and afterwards the SSW couloir of Aiguille de Blaitière (3522m,🇫🇷) in one trip. The descent in the North face of Aiguille du Plan is one of the most (sérac) exposed descents in the Mont Blanc Massif which rarely comes into condition and usually requires 3+ rappels. Due to its unique properties, there are sometimes many years in between the attempts.

Location

The Face Sud de l’Envers des Aiguilles de Chamonix is a prominent mountain face situated in the Mont Blanc Massif of the French Alps. This awe-inspiring location is flanked by two remarkable mountain peaks: the Aiguille de Roc and the Aiguille du Plan.

The Aiguille de Roc stands tall at approximately 4,019 meters (13,185 feet) above sea level, offering stunning panoramic views of the surrounding alpine landscape. On the opposite side, the Aiguille du Plan rises to an impressive height of about 3,673 meters (12,045 feet). Both of these peaks are renowned among mountaineers and adventurers for their challenging ascents and breathtaking vistas. The Face Sud de l’Envers des Aiguilles de Chamonix, with its steep and rugged terrain, beckons climbers and outdoor enthusiasts to explore its formidable slopes and experience the beauty of the Mont Blanc Massif.

First Descent (known)

North face of Aiguille du Plan:

1. Descent Jean Marc Boivin and Laurent Giacomini in July 1976 and snowboarded by Bruno Gouvy and Jérôme Ruby in June 1990.

Other successful descents: Andreas Fransson, Tobias Granath, Julien Herry, Lionel Hachemy, Roch Malnuit, Davide Capozzi, Luca Rolli, Francesco Civra, Xavier De le Rue, Ben Briggs, Tom Grant, Luca Pandolfi, Ross Hewitt and more.

For the Aiguille de Blaitières SSW colouir, there is little data documenting descents but it is safe to say that Phillipe Batoux, Michel Fauquet and Frédéric Gentet where some of, if not the first to achieve a (linked) ski descent.
